After all the rumors, it’s finally confirmed – Shakey’s, with all the unmistakable orange, red and yellow stripes will occupy the stand alone building at Limketkai Complex across MUST.
A large tarp is already installed along the perimeter fence. Based on the building’s shape and structure, it’s a Shakey’s Legacy Store – high ceilings and bigger tables are rare in restaurants, and provide greater comfort. Outside the store is ample and secure parking, and a brightly lit marquee whose invitation is simply irresistible.
Shakey’s first came to Cagayan de Oro in the late 1970s establishing its first store at the corner of Yacapin and Pabayo Streets. It was closed a few years later due to complaints of loud noise coming from its live band music. It resurfaced again with their branch at Ororama Megacenter, then at Limketkai Mall. When fire gutted Ororama Megacenter, its Limketkai Mall branch became its only restaurant in the city. With this new store, there will be questions asked…will the mall branch be closed?
